Because Toyota tax?

I agree with your sentiment, if this was three years ago. Look at more recent listings, they’ll list just about anything these days. There was a auto IS 300 sedan that was in “ok I GUESS” condition on there last month. Quite odd.
That all said, this gen Taco and configuration is highly desirable and catches bigly money, so it makes sense.

Both of those make sense..

This was actually part of the service campaign (recall.) Toyota contracted Dana to build the frames in the USA, Dana omitted cleaning the steel before painting it. This resulted in severe rust especially in salty areas and the advised repair was to replace the frame. IIRC, it was about a 40-50 hour service and applies to just about all Tacomas from 2000ish to 2010.

What Zoidberg said - from the comments, this isn’t the 1st Taco sold on BaT, either. The seller of this one previously sold an automatic Taco on BaT.
I’ve noticed lately that they have been listing more and more cars that don’t seem to belong - including several pretty ‘meh’ E46's.

There has been quite a lot of stuff that has made me question why that’s on BAT recently
![]() 01/02/2018 at 13:07 |

Because someone on the BAT review board likes Tacos enough to let it go on.

Because people get tired of only seeing boring BMWs and 911's?

Would make sense then.

I feel like I’ve noticed that too, this just stood out.

For a “regular” car like this to be on BaT, it’s usually in excellent condition. I’m glad they’re retaining variety in their selection.

Because they are auctioning off something like 100 cars a week. They need inventory and can’t be choosy. Some are nice, but c’mon. I feel the owners are doing themselves a disservice.
